*Title: Tenure Track Faculty Positions in Neuroengineering at the National
University of Singapore (SINAPSE Institute)***



The *National University of Singapore (NUS) *invites applications for four
tenure-track faculty positions at the ranks of Assistant/Associate/Full
Professor and several research track appointments to join a new University
wide *Singapore Institute for Neurotechnology research*, called* SINAPSE (**
www.sinapseinstitute.org**). *



SINAPSE is jointly and generously funded by NUS as well as the Agency for
Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Ministry of Defence (Mindef)
with the goal of greatly advancing fundamental neuroscience/neurotechnology
research, promote collaborations among institutions and fields, and to
encourage cutting edge technology development, medical applications and
entrepreneurship.  SINAPSE will provide substantial startup research
funding and resources, while various engineering department or departments
of medicine or surgery in the NUS Medical School will provide the tenure
track academic home for the faculty members.   The research areas of
interest include:



*Cellular and Systems Neuroengineering** - Micro and nanotechnologies,
optical and optogenetic technologies, novel functional imaging methods,
with focus on novel cellular and in vivo models and mechanistic and
translational studies of nervous system repair, regeneration,
rehabilitation and prostheses.*



*Clinical Neuroengineering** – Development of novel diagnostics and
therapeutics solution for clinical applications, bench models and clinical
translation of nervous system injury or diseases, commercial and clinical
applications.  Translational research minded and technically
oriented clinical scientists especially welcome to apply.*

*Translational Neurotechnologies** – Development of implantable devices,
clinical diagnostic and therapeutic devices, surgical technologies, neural
prosthesis (peripheral, spinal, cortical)** and brain machine interface.
Entrepreneurial researchers are especially welcome to apply.*

*Neuromorphic Systems and Biologically Inspired Robotics** – Design of
circuits, systems and computational neurosciences: designing neurally
inspired or neuromorphic circuits and systems, biologically inspired robots
and building “Brains for Machines.”*

*Cognitive Science and Engineering** – Study of brain function and
cognitive processes with the goals of understanding sensory perception and
saliency, decision-making, errors, reducing fatigue and enhancing cognitive
performance and development of novel, multifunction imaging and brain
machine interfaces.*



Applicants should have an outstanding track record, post-doctoral training,
demonstrated research independence and commitment to teaching and training,
and an imaginative vision for a strong academic career.  Collaborative and
complementary fit within SINAPSE as well as a fit within the educational
and research mission of the NUS will be important considerations. SINAPSE
will commit generous space and startup package to complement the
Departmental offers.
