A postdoctoral position is available as of November 1, 2011 in the
Department of Engineering Sciences and Applied Math at Northwestern
University and Evanston, IL.

We seek an individual with a strong background in computational
neuroscience to work as a part of an NIH-funded, multi-disciplinary,
multi-investigator project: "CRCNS: Biophysical properties of parallel
neural circuits serving night vision (J.H. Singer, U. Maryland; J.B.
Demb, Yale U.; W.L. Kath and H. Riecke, Northwestern U.). The ongoing
research is a collaboration between experimentalists and theoreticians
and seeks to describe the computations that are involved in visual
signaling by circuits in the inner retina. The ideal candidate will
have experience with conductance-based modeling of neurons and will be
able to communicate effectively with biologists and applied
mathematicians. Knowledge of the visual system will be beneficial but
is not required. Additionally, a motivated candidate may have the
opportunity to perform experiments to support the computational
effort.

Please direct inquiries and applications (CV, a statement of research
interests and goals, and at least three letters of reference) to
Joshua Singer (j-singer at northwestern.edu) by October 16, 2011.
