A full-time postdoctoral position in Theoretical Neuroscience is
available in the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior, SUNY Stony
Brook, to study learning and decision-making in networks of spiking
neurons.

The successful candidate will join a newly established laboratory
whose emphasis is on theoretical and systems neuroscience of cognitive
functions. The research encompasses several aspects of learning and
decision-making, in particular, how these processes depend on
contextual factors, and how they shape our processing of relevant
stimuli. The theoretical results will be tested against behavioral and
electrophysiological data obtained in collaboration with other labs in
the Department.

Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field such as Neuroscience,
Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or related field. Expertise in
mathematical modeling of spiking and non-spiking neural networks,
their learning algorithms, and synaptic plasticity is highly welcome.
The position is available starting February 2011, with salary
according to experience.
