The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Davis, is
soliciting applications for a tenure-track position starting July 1,
2011.

The Department seeks an Assistant Professor in the area of Mathematical
Biology. Applicants should have demonstrated excellence in mathematical
modeling of biological phenomena, and the ability to reach across
traditional boundaries in the life sciences and mathematics. Minimum
qualifications for this position include a Ph.D. degree or its  equivalent
in the Mathematical Sciences and great promise in research and teaching.
Duties include mathematical research, undergraduate and graduate
teaching, and departmental and university service.

The math bio group at UC Davis Math Department includes:
Craig Benham (Mathematical molecular biology)
Angela Cheer (Mathematical biofluid)
Bob Guy (Mathematical biofluid and cell biology)
Tim Lewis (Mathematical neuroscience)
Alex Mogilner (Mathematical cell biology)
Besides this group at the math department, there are mathematical
biologists at other departments at Davis (including, but not limited to,
mathematical ecologists Alan Hastings and Sebastian Schreiber, and
computational neuroscientists Mark Goldman and Jochen Ditterich),
as well as great number of researchers in life sciences collaborating
with the modelers.
