Wellcome-funded postdoctoral fellowship in computational neuroscience
at the University of Nottingham, UK
Applications are invited for a Wellcome Trust-funded postdoctoral
fellowship in computational neuroscience in the Nottingham Visual
Neuroscience group. The project will examine the neural mechanisms
of mid-level vision, as part of a broader multi-disciplinary initiative.
The project is led by Dr. Jonathan Peirce in the School of Psychology
and Prof Stephen Coombes in the School of Mathematical Sciences. The
School of Psychology has a strong Visual Neuroscience Group with 6
PIs and a very collaborative ethos. The group has expertise in a
variety of techniques, including fMRI, MEG, TMS, modelling,
electrophysiology and psychophysics, and the successful candidate
would be encouraged to be involved in some of these other studies.
The School of Mathematical Sciences has a strong track record in
computational neuroscience and plays host to the UK Mathematical
Neuroscience Network (http://mathneuronet.org.uk/).
We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a background in
mathematics, physics, engineering, or visual neuroscience to build
large-scale models of spiking and filter-based neurons.
The position is available immediately (with a flexible start date).
The position is initially for 24 months, but may be extended. Salary
will be in the range £25,888-33,780, dependent on experience.
Initial enquiries should be sent to:
jonathan.peirce at nottingham.ac.uk or stephen.coombes at nottingham.ac.uk
http://www.psychology.nottingham.ac.uk/research/vision
The closing date for applications is 7 Nov 2008.
