The ‘Bernstein Focus: Neurotechnology’ (BFNT) Göttingen invites
applications for a research position in Theoretical Neuroscience.
Dependent on the qualifications of the successful candidate the position
will be given at Postdoctoral or PhD student level. Research will
comprise modeling and analysis of multidimensional EMG data,
computational neuroscience of behavioral control and embedded systems.
The project will be an integral part of the activities of the Bernstein
Focus of Neurotechnology Göttingen. The work will be performed at the
Max-Planck-Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization. The close
collaboration with our industrial partner (Otto Bock Healthcare GmbH)
will be an important part of the project.
PhD applicants will work towards their doctorate in Göttingen
University’s newly established Graduate School, GGNB.
We are looking for a researcher with a background in Computer Science,
Physics, Mathematics or Engineering and keen interest in
interdisciplinary research at the border of Machine Learning,
Neuroscience and Prosthetics.
The ideal candidate will have the ability and desire to develop
self-contained research work that leads to concrete applications in
advanced Prosthetics.
Prior experience in Machine Learning, Data Analysis and/or Behavioral
Neuroscience would be advantageous.
Göttingen is a center of neuroscience in Europe hosting numerous
internationally recognized neuroscience research institutions, including
three Max-Planck-Institutes, the European Neuroscience Institute, the
German Primate Research Center, and Göttingen University's Centers for
Systems Neuroscience (ZNV), and for the Molecular Physiology of the
Brain (CMPB) and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience
Göttingen (BCCN). The BFNT integrates theoretical and experimental
research groups from these institutions to foster interdisciplinary
research in computational neuroscience specifically supporting close
collaboration between theorists, experimental researchers and industrial
R&D.
Please submit your application preferably in one single
PDF-document,including cover letter, CV, a statement of research
interest and plans (in case of the application for a Postdoctoral
position), list of publications, names of possible referees, and
relevant certificates by December 31, 2008, to: jobs at bccn-goettingen.de
