(apologies for cross-postings)

Dear colleagues,

This message is to inform you that the CNCC Essay Award for Junior
Scholars has been launched. The European Science Foundation offers two
essay prizes of € 1.500 each for academic papers related to the topics of
the EUROCORES Programme CNCC – Consciousness in a Natural and Cultural
Context. The six finalist papers, including the two winners, will be
published on the journal Psyche (http://psyche.cs.monash.edu.au/) in early
2009.

The competition is open to researchers in the field of consciousness
studies who are PhD students at the moment or that have recently completed
their PhD, i.e. dissertation must have been defended no earlier than June
30, 2005. Aside from these constraints, no age limit is set, while
participation of younger scholars is highly encouraged. The deadline for
submission is *15 February 2008*.

We strongly encourage participation of anyone eligible, and would greatly
