Post-doctoral position available at INRIA Grenoble, France
"Object detection and recognition in still images."
LEAR (http://lear.inrialpes.fr) is an interdisciplinary research team
based at INRIA's Rhone-Alpes site in Grenoble in the French Alps.
LEAR's research focuses on machine learning and statistical modelling
based approaches to visual object recognition, scene interpretation,
and image and video indexing. Understanding the content of everyday
images and videos is one of the major outstanding challenges of computer
vision. At present the extent to which we can do this is limited, but we
believe that significant advances will be made over the next few years
by combining emerging statistical learning techniques with state of the
art image descriptors, and this new capability will lead to a boom in
Description of post:
The objective is to develop solutions for detecting and recognizing
objects (such as cars, airplanes, vehicles, etc) in still images. One of
the key issues in this research will be to design to efficient image and
object models based on machine learning techniques.
The work will be carried out in a team consisting of post-graduate
students and senior researchers.
An ideal candidate should have a PhD in computer science or applied
mathematics with some previous experience on machine learning or
computer vision. Programming skills with C/C++/Matlab is desired.
